Horizon ships as 1 of 4 SKUs (Iridium or Inmarsat satellite modem × Aircraft or GCS firmware). Each Aircraft Hardware Unit is paired with one of three furnished accessory kits (below), selected based on the flight controller.

Pixhawk / JST-GH Flight Controllers

Use this kit for Pixhawk PX4, Cube, or any flight controller with a JST-GH TELEM1 connector and compatible pinout. The Pixhawk TELEM1 port supplies data only; power must be sourced separately. The SWL-HAR-0005 cable splits the Horizon I/O connector into a JST-GH telemetry leg and an exposed-lead power leg — the integrator is responsible for terminating the power leg with the appropriate connector for the aircraft’s supply.

GCS Hardware Unit Kit

One standard GCS accessory kit ships with every GCS-firmware Horizon unit. The kit supplies all custom and off-the-shelf parts required to connect the unit to a GCS laptop, AC mains, and a Taranis RC controller.

Note

USB-C cable: A USB-C cable is not included in the GCS kit. Because cable length requirements vary by installation, the operator or installer supplies their own data-capable USB-C cable to connect the GCS Hardware Unit to the GCS computer (see Horizon GCS Setup and Troubleshooting).

Note

SMA Extension Cables: Two long SMA coaxial extension cables are required to run from the GCS Hardware Unit to the deployed LOS antenna mounts. Cable length is deployment-dependent.

Tripods and Mounts: Tripods, masts, and antenna holders are not included in the GCS kit.

Note

SAT port usage: The SAT port on the GCS Hardware Unit is required for Iridium / Inmarsat BLOS control unless the GCS computer has active ISP / internet connectivity, in which case BLOS commands may be routed through the Somewear backend over the GCS internet connection.

Inspection Upon Receipt

Upon receipt of each package, verify the packing list above for your unit type. Inspect all components for shipping damage. If any item is missing or damaged, contact your assigned Somewear field service representative or sales representative before proceeding with installation.
