Endurance Mode extends battery life on a Node or a standalone Hotspot by reducing how often the device wakes the satellite modem. On Hotspot firmware 3.9.21 or later, a standalone Hotspot lasts a minimum of 3 days between charges at a 10-minute check-in interval — and 4+ days with less frequent satellite check-ins.
What Endurance Mode Does
The satellite modem is the largest power draw on the device. With Endurance Mode enabled, the modem powers down quickly after each successful check-in and only draws significant power when it’s actually sending. On Hotspot, field-representative testing with firmware 3.9.21 or later shows the modem powered off roughly 9 out of every 10 minutes.
Expected Battery Life
Battery life depends on how often the device checks in via satellite, how often it records location, and satellite signal quality. Representative results for a standalone Hotspot on firmware 3.9.21 or later, on a fully charged battery with Endurance Mode enabled:

- Make sure Endurance Mode is enabled in your device settings.
- Choose the longest cell and satellite intervals that meet your needs — fewer check-ins last longer.
- Give the device a clear view of the sky for faster check-ins and less wasted power.
- Start each trip fully charged, and avoid extreme cold, which reduces battery capacity.
