Use this page to look up hardware specs, radio channel settings, transmission power options, and compatible software versions for the Somewear Node.

The Somewear Node is a ruggedized mesh (peer-to-peer radio network) and satellite communication device that pairs to Android Team Awareness Kit (ATAK) over Bluetooth. It combines Iridium satellite, dual-channel LoRa (Long Range radio) mesh, integrated GPS, and BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) into a single handheld form factor.

The Node operates on two simultaneous LoRa channels. All Nodes on a mesh must use the same channel set.

Use High power unless spectrum constraints or battery conservation require a lower setting. Reducing power decreases effective range.

To check the installed plugin version:

  1. Open ATAK.
  2. Tap the plugin icon in the toolbar to open the Somewear plugin.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Scroll to About and note the version number displayed.
